Message from Jim:

I started at a young age with firearms.  My first gun was a BB gun, then I graduated to a .22 cal. rifle.  Safety was always the most important factor when handling a firearm.

At 22 years of age I was hired as a Police Officer and entered the Academy.  I learned how to tactically shoot pistols, revolvers and shotguns.  Throughout my career, I had the opportunity to attend numerous advanced tactical firearms training classes.  Furthermore I qualified as a distinguished expert throughout my law enforcement career.

As a hunter I have had the opportunity to harvest mule deer, prong horned antelope and elk throughout the United States.

After retiring from the Police Department, I was hired by a private security firm and worked anti-terrtorism and personal dignitary protection.

In 2014 I started with Shady Oaks Gun Range when the business first opened.  Soon after I became the General Manager.  My main focus is with day to day operations, sales and firearm training.

Advice for beginners

Learn the four gun safety rules

1.)  All guns are always loaded.

2.)  Never point a gun at anything you are not willing to destroy.

3.)  Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target and you have made the decision to shoot.

4.)  Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.
